  • Business Hours

    • Government office hours are usually from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on weekdays and closed on weekends.
    • Banks are open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekdays and closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
    • Major stores are open every day from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm including Sundays.
  • Climate

    • Four distinct seasons in Korea :

    • The temperature in Seoul in September is approximately between 19-24 ℃ degrees.
  • Currency

    • The unit of the Korean currency is the Won (₩). Coin denominations are ₩10, ₩50, ₩100 and ₩500.
    • Banknotes are ₩1,000, ₩5,000, ₩10,000 and ₩50,000.
    • The exchange rate is approximately US $1 to KR 1,230 as of April 2022.
  • Electricity

    • In Korea, 220 volt outlets are most common. Some hotels provide 110 volt outlets for shavers.

  • Passport and Visa

    • A valid passport and Korean Visa are needed for all visitors to the Republic Korea.
    • Exemption: Visitors with round-trip tickets from countries that have a special agreement with Korea can stay in Korea up to 30 days or 90 days depending on the type of agreement between the two countries.

  • VAT

    • Value-Added Tax (VAT) is levied on most goods and services at a standard rate of 10% and is included in the retail price.
    • In tourist hotels, this 10% tax applies to rooms, meals and other services and is included in the bill.
